Helen Bock, 83, passed away on Nov. 15, 2011, at the Cuyuna Care Center, in Crosby. Helen was born on April 1, 1928, in Henning to Francis and Emma (Thiede) Hendricks. Helen married Lawrence Bock on Sept. 11, 1947, in Motley, Minn. Helen was a loving wife and the mother of 10 children, her family was her life! She loved to sew and in the early days she sewed many of her children’s clothes. In later years, she made quilts for her children, children-in-law, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren. She loved to spend time outdoors in her flower and vegetable gardens and canned produce for her large family. Helen loved to fish, hunt and camp with her family. Helen spent many hours dancing and playing cards. She was a member of Margaret Mary Guild of St. Francis Church.
Helen is survived by her sons, Dennis (Rhonda), Gerald (Cindy), and Brian (Terry), all of Brainerd; daughters, Diane (Dennis) Zilmer, of Fergus Falls, Arlene (Patrick) Jackson, Cathy (Gary) Bourassa, Janet (Gary) Thompson, Joanne (Paul) Bible, Brenda (John) Mogensen; and daughter-in-law, Sue Bock, all of Brainerd; 32 grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren; 16 great- grandchildren; five stepgreat-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. Her sisters, Florence Nelson and Martha Killian; brothers, Harvey, Bernard, Art (Margaret) and Donald (Darlene).
Helen was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lawrence; son, Gary Bock; and her brothers, Robert and Herbert .
Mass of Christian Burial will be at 1 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 19, 2011, at St. Francis Catholic Church of Brainerd. Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 18, 2011, from 4-7 p.m. at Halvorson-Johnson Funeral Home with a prayer service at 6:45 p.m., and one hour prior to the mass Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery.
