Lois Garvey, 86, passed away on Nov. 21, 2011, at Suite Living in North Branch. Lois was born on April 2, 1925, in Brainerd to Samuel and Esther (Johnson) Nesheim. She married John Garvey in December of 1944 in Louisiana. Together they had six beautiful children.
Lois worked for the state hospital for 22 years. She was an avid traveler, reader, gardener and Democrat. She also loved music, her Scandinavian heritage, her beloved dogs and going to the casino. Lois was a proud member of the Sons of Norway and taught Sunday school for many years at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Brainerd. Most of all she loved being with her family.
Lois is survived by her children, Michael (Geri) of Surprise, Ariz., Michele Henzlik of Ham Lake, Colleen (Richard) Dinter of Hibbing, Paul of Bloomington, Patricia (Mark) Perlinger of Sandpoint, Idaho, David (Kellie) of Wyoming, Minn.; brother, Franklin “Frank” (Lucy) of Brainerd; 19 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; cousins; nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her husband; parents; and brother; Eugene “Sonny.”
Memorial services will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 29, 2011, at Halvorson Johnson Funeral Home in Brainerd. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Oak Grove Cemetery.
