Harlan ‘Fred’ C. Fredericksen Sr.

Funeral services were Wednesday, Dec. 28 at St. John’s Episcopal Church, St. Cloud, Minn. The Rev. John Jankowski will officiated. Burial will be in Clear Lake Cemetery, Clear Lake, Minn., at a later date.
Harlan was born May 8, 1921, in Arco, Minn., to John and Christine (Jorgensen) Fredericksen. He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps for a couple of years and then served in the United States Army from 1939 to 1945. On Oct. 23, 1945, Harlan married Julia Frances Pike in St. John’s, Newfoundland, an English Colony. They lived in Tyler and Marshall, Minn., prior to moving to St. Cloud, Minn., in 1955. Harlan worked as a master plumber for St. Cloud Plumbing and Heating until 1963 when he started Fred’s Plumbing. Harlan was a member of St. John’s Episcopal Church, St. Cloud VFW Post No. 428 and Clearwater American Legion Post No. 323.
Survivors include his wife, Julia “Frances” Fredericksen, of St. Cloud, Minn.; sons and daughters, David (Mary) Fredericksen, of St. Cloud, Minn., Paul (Gwenn) Fredericksen, of Clear Lake, Minn., Judy (Jack) Adams, of Deerwood, Minn., Nancy (Ronald) Rossman, of St. Cloud, Minn.; 15 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Harlan “Freddy” Fredericksen Jr. on Nov. 12, 1994; three brothers, Clarence, Harold and Gordon; and five sisters, Helga, Alma, Marilyn, Anitra and Marie.
The family would like to thank the staffs of Veterans Administration Medical Center Building 49 Floor 1, Building 50 Floor 2, ADHC and friends for the loving care and compassion that they showed to Harlan.
