Maurine Vornbrock, (nee Chenevert) age 74 of Elk River, formerly of Forest Lake and Garrison, Minn., passed away on Jan. 11, 2012. She is preceded in death by her parents Maurice and Blanche Chenevert, brother William “Bill” Chenevert, sister Cheryl Chenevert, and aunt Leola Buchite.

She is survived by her loving husband Anthony; children Barry (Ernest Lewis), Palo Alto, Calif.; David (Beverly), Metairie, La.; Steven (Margery), Blaine, Minn.; and grandchildren Sean Vornbrock and Jessica Vornbrock, Elk River, Minn.

She is also survived by her siblings, Bonnie (Wallace) Blum, Diamond Bar, Calif.; Gary (Melodie) Chenevert, Gaithersburg, Md.; John (Florette) Chenevert, Richfield, Minn.; and Milo (Winona) Chenevert, Eagan, Minn.

Maurine, the oldest child in the family, was born in the middle of the depression. She was a member of the first confirmation class of the Crosslake Lutheran Church. A gifted student, she graduated from Pequot Lakes High School, and then began working as a telephone operator in Brainerd where she met and married her beloved husband of 50 plus years. She was a volunteer with Meals-on-Wheels while living in the Garrison, Minn. area. An avid reader and accomplished cook; she will be missed by all.

Memorial services are scheduled for 3 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 21, 2012, at Dare’s Funeral Home, 805 Main St. N.W., Elk River, Minn. (763) 441-1212. Visitation one hour prior to service at the funeral home. Private interment will be at Minnesota State Veteran’s Cemetery, Ft. Ripley, Minn.

Memorials preferred to the American Heart Association or the Animal Humane Society.
