CROSBY — Sylvia Ione Heglund, age 83, of Crosby, died on Jan. 17, 2012, at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby. She was born on March 9, 1928, in Little Falls to Leslie and Lois (Pritchard) Austin. Sylvia was a Crosby-Ironton School Employee with the Food Service Program with 35 years of service. She was an annual summertime camper at the Crosslake Camp Ground for over 40 years. She was a member of the Degree of Honor and the Cascade United Methodist Church in Deerwood.
Survivors include three sons, Tom (Kathy Jo) Heglund, of Crosby, Paul (Deanna) Heglund, of Crosby, and Mike (Sue) Heglund, of Deerwood; two brothers, Floyd “Manny” (Sheri) Austin, of Rainbow City, Ala., and Robert Austin, of Gulf Port, Mississippi; six grandchildren, Holly (Tony) Smith, of Plano, Texas, Ted (Kari) Heglund, of Grand Prairie, Texas, Angie (Jeff) Taylor, of Forest Lake, Jon (Melissa) Heglund, of Bemidji, Ashley (Nick Mausolf) Heglund, of Crosby, and Garrett Heglund, of Crosby; great-grandchildren, Aryn and Zoe Smith, Theo Heglund, Jake and Grant Taylor, Sylvia and Henry Heglund and Derek and Claire Mausolf.
Preceding her in death are her parents; her husband, Theodore; two sisters, Bernice Berg and an infant.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 22, 2012, at the Cascade United Methodist Church in Deerwood. Burial will be at the Lakewood Cemetery in Crosby. Friends may call on Sunday one hour prior to the services at the church.
Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
