U.S. judge restores Endangered Species Act protections to Great Lakes gray wolves

Marie E. Ellingson, age 97, resident of Brainerd, passed away on Feb. 24, 2012 at Good Samaritan Society – Woodland. Marie was born on Sept. 1, 1914 in Hampture, Ill. to August and Rosa Lena (Conro) Erdmann. She was a graduate of St. Francis School.

Marie was a founding member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church and served as a Eucharistic Minister. She was an active member of the Daughters of Isabel, the National Order of Forrester’s, St. Andrew’s Guild and adoration into her ninety’s. She enjoyed playing cards, especially bridge and 500, crafts, knitting afghans, baby hats and booties, square-dancing, traveling with her siblings and Sunday drives. She was the Minnesota Twins fan “extraordinaire”. She also enjoyed many “Mystery Trips” to Zimmerman’s Store, Montgomery Ward, Dairy Queen, Sears, Craguns, and O’Brien’s.

Marie leaves behind a son, Don Ellingson and two daughters, Kathy Simonson and Luann Thompson; her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John and daughter.

Services will be held 1:00 p.m. on March 2 at St. Andrew’s Catholic Church in Brainerd. Visitation will begin the hour before service at the church on Friday. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Gardens.
