Peter ‘Pete’ Krmpotich

CROSBY — Peter John “Pete” Krmpotich, age 90, of Crosby, died on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby.

He was born on May 16, 1921, in Krivi-Put, Yugoslavia, to Anton and Lucy (Spalj) Krmpotich. Pete was a WW II Navy veteran. He married Mary Jane Pankrantz on June 26, 1948, in Crosby.

He was a miner, employed by Zontelli brothers and Inland Steel. He was in research and development and advertizing maker for Scorpion Snowmobile Company. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Crosby and the Myrin-James American Legion Post No. 443, Ironton.

Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Mary Jane; two daughters, Kris O’Brien of Ham Lake and Kim Preimesberger of Deerwood; one brother, Frank (Connie) Krmpotich of New Brighton; two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death are his parents and two sisters, Mary Palmer and Jean Feldt.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Thursday, March 29, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Crosby with military honors given by the Myrin-James American Legion Post. Friends may call one hour prior to the services at the church on Thursday. Arrangements are with the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby.
