Alice J. (Calquhoun) Palmer
Alice Janice (Calquhoun) Palmer, born Aug. 2, 1920, left to be with Jesus on May 3, 2012.
Alice also had 10 grandchildren: Tonetta (Bob) Hardekopf, April Janes (Mark), James Cohen (Bobbie), Rob (Brenda) Swartout, Trevor Swartout, Daniel (Paula) Swartout, Michelle Swartout (Chuck); 10 great-grandchildren, James Jr., Tabitha, Trevor, Aaron, Jasmine, Jade, Parker, Sailor, Eric, Nate, Georgina, Megan and Mitchell; and three great-great-grandchildren: Peyton, Carter and Kiera.
Alice was a machine operator at the Brainerd Defense Plant during WWII while Noah served in the Army overseas. They were active members of the Brainerd American Legion, Moose Club, Elks Club and attended Trinity Lutheran Church. They moved to Paramount, Calif., and loved to travel and come back to Minnesota every summer to see all of their friends and family. She spent the last seven years living with Charlotte and Connie until she convinced them that she could be on her own in an apartment. She got an apartment in the Evergreen Assisted Living Home in Iron Mountain, Mich., seven years ago and enjoyed all of the activities and her new friends. She loved to play cards and visit with everyone. She passed away peacefully in her sleep on May 3, 2012. Her memorial service will be on May 12, 2012, at 11 a.m. in Iron Mountain, Mich., at Our Saviors Lutheran Church.
