Jennie M. Nix
AITKIN — Jennie Marie Nix, 92, of Aitkin, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Thursday, May 31, 2012, in Aitkin. She was born Oct. 1, 1919, in Mission Township, Crosby, to Peter and Cynthia (Robins) Amos. She was a Christian wife, mother, and a servant of Jesus Christ. She was always a gracious hostess. Jennie was united in marriage to Wayne Howard Nix on March 24, 1940, in Brainerd. She worked on the family farm, at the Aitkin Hospital and for the Land O’ Lakes Co. While living in Marysville, Wash., she helped at the Faith Kitchen. She was a member of Glory Baptist Church, and enjoyed having fun with her grandchildren.
Jennie is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, Jesse (Sue) Nix, of Emily, George (Dena) Nix, of Aitkin, and Minneapolis; four daughters and sons-in-law, Elaine (Les) Moser, of Deerwood, Clare (Rick) Richardson, of Tigard, Ore., Edee (Darwin) Johnson, of Anoka, Pat Chaffee, of Marysville, Wash.; 20 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren; many great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Ivy Christman, of Marysville, Wash.; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wayne on Dec. 25, 2006; infant son, Peter; great-granddaughter, Lillian Pearson; son-in-law, Wayne Chaffee; five sisters, Hettie VanHorn, Myrtle Whitley, Florence Robins, Alda Amos, Laura Anderson; and her parents.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, June 4, 2012, at Glory Baptist Church, rural Aitkin. The Rev. Randy Stauter will officiate. Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service at the church. Burial will be in Glory Cemetery. Arrangements are with Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
