Cyril B. Hoppe
Cyril B. Hoppe, 88, of Ironton, formerly of Pillager, died on Wednesday, July 18, 2012 at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby, Minn. Services for Cyril will be held on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Crosby, Minn., with Father Tim Deutsch officiating at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held from 9-11 a.m. at the church. Interment at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery near Camp Ripley.
Cyril was born on Oct. 26, 1923 in Albany, Minn., to Albert and Katherine (Woebkenberg) Hoppe. Cyril joined the United States Navy and served our country in the WWII and Korean Wars. Cyril married Louetta (Birr) on June 4, 1960 in Albany, Minn., and they made their home in Pillager since 1963. He was a member of the Pillager American Legion, NRA and the 49ers Union. Cyril was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also loved gardening.
Cyril is survived by his children, Lois Hoppe of Ironton, Minn., and Richard (Lizzie) Hoppe of Tucson, Ariz.; siblings, Joseph Hoppe of Albany, Minn., Raymond Hoppe of Little Falls, Minn., James Hoppe of Forest Lake, Minn., Thomas Hoppe of Young America, Minn., Aloys “Pete” Hoppe of Paynesville, Minn., John “Jack” Hoppe of Shakopee, Minn., Elizabeth “Betsy” Keep of Plymouth, Minn., Louisa (Wheezie) Hoppe of San Rafael, Calif., and Daniel Hoppe of Sauk Centre, Minn.; sister-in-laws, Leona Curran of Albany, Minn. and Erma Birr of Albany, Minn.; sister and brother-in-law, Luella and Arthur Hinnenkamp of Brooklyn Centre, Minn.; brother-in-law, Junior Cigelske of Parkers Prairie, Minn.; and grandchildren, Jamie and Jake Hoppe; and his pets, Precious (Tibby), Sadie and his many hunting dogs. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Louetta “Pat”; sister, Cecelia; and brother, Jerome. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Baxter.
