Luella Sell

AITKIN — Luella I. Sell, age 81, of Aitkin, died Thursday, Aug. 9, 2012, at the Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby.

Luella was born April 20, 1931, at Stewart, Minn., the daughter of Fred and Alma (Abraham) Klitzke. She grew up and attended Lutheran Parochial School at Brownton. She graduated from the Aitkin High School in 1997. She married Stanley Sell on Aug. 23, 1950, at Stewart, Minn. They lived in South Saint Paul until 1959 at which time they purchased the Aitkin Locker Plant and operated it for 30 years. Luella also worked for the Security State Bank as a courier after her husband’s death in 1993. She was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Aitkin, the Aitkin VFW and Legion Auxiliary of which she was a past president. She enjoyed being at the cabin, music, polka dancing, volunteering to play the piano and accordion at the nursing homes, and her family. In 1996 she met her best friend, Jim Magdziarz at a dance and they would dance almost every weekend.

She is survived by five children and spouses: Brian Sell, of Maple Grove, Minn., Barry (Kim) Sell, of Baxter, Minn., Lynn (Charlie) Wikelius, of Aitkin, Minn., Jackie (Terry) Lewison, of Maple Grove, Minn., Cindy (Keith) Stunek, of Baxter, Minn.; sister, Edna Harens, of Arlington, Minn.; grandchildren, Jodi Christenson, Kelli Johnson, Jamie Rosenthal, Joe Sell, Mike Stunek, Jake Stunek, Nicci Curry, Sarah Curry, Lindsey Curry, Matthew Sell; great-grandchildren, Jordan and Logan Christenson, Devon, Peyton and Landon Curry, Daniel Strovers, Alayna Svendsen, and baby Stunek on the way. Also surviving is her best friend, Jim Magdziarz, of Sturgeon Lake, Minn. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Stanley in 1993; brother, Milton; sister, Iola; and daughter-in-law, Ginny Sell.

Funeral services will be held Monday, Aug. 13, 2012, at 1 p.m. from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Aitkin with the Rev. David Becker officiating. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until the 1 p.m. services at the church Monday. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery in Aitkin at a later date. Arrangements are with the Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin.
