James A. Dewald
BROWERVILLE — James Arthur Dewald, 70, of rural Browerville, passed away on Saturday, Aug. 25, 2012, at his residence surrounded by his family. A memorial service will be held on Sunday, Sept. 2, 2012, 2 p.m. at his home. Burial will be at a later date.
James was born Dec. 31, 1941, in Bertha, Minn., to Milton and Lavernne (Baldwin) Dewald. He attended school in Staples. As a young man he moved to St. Paul and worked as a truck driver for Gateway. On May 22, 1960, he married Barbara Ziegler and in 1976 they moved back to Staples and James drove truck as an owner/operator. He drove truck for almost 50 years and without an accident, winning many awards when he was with Gateway. James had many interests, including motorcycles and fast cars/drag racing, going “muddin,” snowmobiling, mowing the lawn, fishing and hunting and loved his pets.
James is survived by his wife, Barbara, of Browerville; children, Leroy (Pam) Dewald, of Staples, Lawrence (Jodi) Dewald, of Staples, Lavonne “Bonnie” (Richard) Line, of Staples, Lonnie (Rena) Dewald, of Staples; grandchildren, Jameson and Jarret Dewald, Michael, Jeremiah and Latasha Dewald, Sarah Line (Tony Eisenmenger), Amanda (Jamie) Nichols, Rhianna (Daniel) Graham, Rebecca Line (Tyler Jackson), Samantha (Bryan) Motl, Kayla (Todd) Vejtasa, Lonnie (Kaylene) Dewald Jr.; great-grandchildren, Olivia, Jackie, Kyle, Ashton, Leandra, Eli, Vance, Carson, Millinda; and one sister, Janice (Tom) Miller.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Lavernne; and one great-granddaughter, Grace Becker.
