BREEZY POINT — Larry Kiel, age 61, died Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, peacefully and unexpectedly at his home in Breezy Point, Minn. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 14, 2012, at St. Alice Catholic Church in Pequot Lakes, Minn. Family and friends are invited to gather from 5-7 p.m. Thursday evening at the Brenny Funeral Chapel in Pequot Lakes. Interment will be held at Pelican Woods Cemetery.
Larry was born on April 18, 1951, in Milaca, Minn., to Laurence and Lillian Kiel. He married the love of his life, Denise Patnode, on Sept. 11, 1970. The couple moved to the Breezy Point area in 1973, where Larry owned and operated a plumbing business for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and traveling. He was a writer, but most of all Larry loved being surrounded by all of his “girls.”
He is survived by his wife, Denise; daughters, Sarah (Derek) Schladweiler, of Otsego, Leah (Lisa Peters), of Winnipeg, Canada, and Amber (Brandon) Peterson, of Crosslake; beautiful granddaughters, Alexis, Avery and Ashlyn; father, Laurence Kiel, of Milaca; sister, Linda (Rhonda King) Kiel, of Kentwood, Mich.; and brothers, Tim (Jeanne) Kiel, of St. Cloud, and Tom (Kris) Kiel, of Milaca. He was preceded in death by his mother, Lillian; brother, Harlen; and stepmother, Donna.
