AITKIN — Melvin Carl Julius Borgman, age 86, of Aitkin, died Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at the Golden Horizons Assisted Living Center in Aitkin.
Melvin was born Oct. 25, 1925, in Aitkin, Minn., the son of Carl and Dora (Ketcher) Borgman. Melvin lived his whole life in Aitkin and spent most of it farming. He enjoyed gardening, canning and cooking. He was very attached to his faithful dog “Anna Lee.”
He is survived by his sister, Helen Torgerson, of Aitkin; brothers and sisters-in-law, Marvin and Donna Borgman, of Aitkin, Emery and Ruth Borgman, of Forest Lake, Minn., Emerson and Yvonne Borgman, of Pacific Grove, Calif.; and brother-in-law, Steve Dragovich. He also is survived by 12 nephews and seven nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents, Carl and Dora Borgman; brothers, Wilmer Borgman and Hilmar Borgman; sisters, Adeline Borgman, Donna Crump and Marliss Dragovich; sister-in-law, Bernice Borgman; brothers-in-law, Howard Crump and Harley Torgerson.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2012, at 1:30 p.m. from St. John’s Lutheran Church in Aitkin with the Rev. David Becker officiating. Visitation will be from noon until the 1:30 p.m. services at the church. Burial will be in the Waukenabo Cemetery near Palisade, Minn. Arrangements are with the Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin.
