Orville K. Rubow
Orville Kenneth Rubow, age 93, of Bay Lake died on Sept. 21, 2012, at the Cuyuna Regional Care Center in Crosby. He was born on April 29, 1919, in Summerset, Wis. to Otto and Katherine (Sonntag) Rubow. He married Pauline Lowery on May 12, 1955, in Minneapolis. Orville graduated from Stillwater High School and then continued his education at the Dunwoody Institute graduating in 1939. Orville was a WWII Army Air Forces veteran. He is a retired employee with the 3M Corp. in St. Paul. After retiring Orville and Pauline retired to the Bay Lake Area in 1982. He was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood, the Walter Scott Erickson American Legion Post No. 557 of Deerwood, the Bay Lake Area Lions and was a Melvin Jones Fellow and the RSVP. He was a former member of the
Bay Lake Township Board Supervisors, Crow Wing Council on Aging, the Cuyuna Range Seniors Club.
Orville was the 1996 recipient of Crow Wing County’s Outstanding Senior Citizen Award.
Survivors include his wife Pauline; one son, Kenneth (Judi Kulko) Rubow of Avon, Conn.; four grandchildren, Jennifer (Anthony) Reinitz of Mound, Brandon (Devora) Rubow, U.S. Army, Allison (Mark) Seeber of Lafayette, Colo., and Susan (Felix) Eichhoff of Hyde Park, N.Y.; two great-grandchildren, Ashleigh Reinitz and Caleb
Rubow; several nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are: his parents; first wife, Lois; one son, Paul; and one sister, Donalda LaRoche.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. on Monday, Sept. 24th, 2012, at Salem Lutheran Church in Deerwood. Burial will be at the Bay Lake Cemetery with full military honors given by the Walter Scott Erickson American Legion Post No. 557 of Deerwood. Friends may call on Sunday at the Koop Funeral Home in Crosby from 4 to 7 p.m. and on Monday one hour prior to the services at the church.
