Herbert G. Schmidtbauer
LITTLE FALLS — Herbert G. Schmidtbauer, 78-year-old resident of Little Falls, Minn., passed away Monday, Sept. 24, 2012, at the Lutheran Care Center in Little Falls, Minn. A gathering of friends open house is being held from 2 to 4:30 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 28 at the Little Falls Great River Arts Association, 122 SE First St., Little Falls, Minn. Burial will be at Minnesota State Veterans Cemetery north of Little Falls at a later date.
Herbert G. Schmidtbauer was born on July 5, 1934, in Pierz, Minn., to the late Michael and Frances (Boser) Schmidtbauer, he was the oldest of eight children. Herbert enlisted in the U.S. Army and served from 1954 to 1956. He was married to Joan Eller on Dec. 14, 1955. Herbert was an avid Twins fan (unfortunately), he also was a pretty good bowler and loved to visit and tell stories. He started his family in Little Falls where his daughters, Mary, Jean, Amy and Anne were born. He spent 20 years in Long Prairie and moved back to Little Falls after retirement. Herbert is survived by his wife, Joan; children, Mary Patrick, Jean (Steve Schultz), Amy (James Hart), Anne (Douglas Thielen); grandchildren, Trevor Tykwinski (Stacy), Joanie Vossen (Ryan), Oliver and Isaac Thielen; great-grandchild, Ayla Tykwinski; siblings, Don (Pat) Schmidtbauer, Dan (Marge) Schmidtbauer, Rose Majka, Lyla (Alan) Vogtlin, Ruth (Ron) Monson and Rita Schmidtbauer. Herbert was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, David.
