Lee Francis Krautkremer, age 79, of Brainerd, died Sunday, Oct. 7, 2012, at Diamond Willow Assisted Living in Baxter. He was born Aug. 23, 1933, in Jordan, Minn., to Frank and Vivian Krautkremer. In 1951, Lee graduated from St. Thomas Military Academy in St. Paul and and was an Army veteran serving during the Korean conflict. Lee married Carolyn Anderson Oct. 13, 1956, and together they raised five boys. In 1989, Lee married Gerry Brakke.
Lee spent many years as the president of Brainerd National Bank before changing careers to several marketing positions for various retirement communities around the country finally retiring from Madonna Towers in Rochester, Minn., in 2006. His other accomplishments included being original co-developer of the Nisswa Square and along with his wife Gerry owned the Magic Skillet restaurant in Brainerd.
Lee believed in and actively participated in many Brainerd lakes area organizations including serving as head of the Central Minnesota Boy Scout Council, Rotary, Masons, Chamber of Commerce, and Jaycees.
He is survived by his wife, Gerry; sons, Mark (Ruth) Krautkremer, Scott (Gail) Krautkremer, Todd (Carol) Krautkremer, Jay (Nancy) Krautkremer, Ross (Debbie) Krautkremer; stepchildren, Laurie (Bob) Hartman, George McDonald, Lisa Shattuck, John McDonald, Lezley O’Brien, LeAnn McDonald; 33 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Carolyn.
Lee loved going to the movies and traveling. He will be deeply missed by his family who enjoyed his sense of humor and loved to laugh with him.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 12, 2012, at St. Francis Catholic Church with Father Daniel Weiske officiating. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery. Visitation will be held one hour prior to services at the church.
In lieu of flowers memorials preferred.
