AITKIN — Grace Johnson, 97, of Aitkin died Oct. 15, 2012 at Aicota Assisted Living in Aitkin. She was born April 1, 1915 near New Ulm, Minn., to Adrian and Dena (Joffer) Bronner. She attended Wildwood School in Aitkin County. Grace was united in marriage to Clifford Johnson on Sept. 21, 1935 in Hill City. She lived in Bain on the family farm for 36 years until moving to Rossburg. She enjoyed cooking, flowers, going for walks in the woods, picking berries and Bible studies. She was a member of Bethesda Lutheran Church of Rossburg. Grace was a homemaker, loving wife and mother. She was preceded in death by her husband Clifford in 2009, eleven brothers and sister; granddaughter Brenda; son-in-law Bryan Bailey; and her parents Adrian and Dena (Joffer) Bronner.
Grace is survived by four daughters and sons-in-law:
Christine Bailey (Robert Landrus) of Aitkin.
Marlene Kingsley (Warren Witt) of Palisade.
Muriel (Frank) Kingsley of Palisade.
Shirley (John) Johnson of Reedsport, Ore.
Ten grandchildren: Lynda Root, Kathy (Dale) DeRosier, Carol Nelson, Loren (Ginger) Bailey, Janet Kingsley, Brad Kingsley, Jeff Kingsley, Kent (Barb) Kingsley, Kurt (Lisa) Ekelund, Chad (Jen) Ekelund.
14 great-grandchildren, 12 step-great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren.
Many other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin. The Rev. Sandy Berg-Holte will officiate. Burial will be in Waukenabo Cemetery. Visitation will be 5-7 p.m. Friday with prayer services beginning at 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Visitation will continue one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Memorials are preferred in lieu of flowers.
