Harold “Sonny” Leonard Turnock, 78, of McGregor died Friday, Oct. 19, 2012, at Cuyuna Regional Medical Center in Crosby. He was born Oct. 19, 1934, in East Lake to Harold Frances and Hazel Geneva (Bennett) Turnock. He graduated from McGregor High School in 1952. Harold was united in marriage to Dolores “DeDe” Irene Miller on July 27, 1957, in Crosby. He worked at Diamond Match Co. in Cloquet for 44 years. He retired from the National Guard after 27 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and bowling. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Dolores on June 4, 2011.

Harold is survived by son and daughter-in-law: Keith (Michelle) Turnock of Brainerd, three daughters and sons-in-law: Joleen (John) Herbert of Sheridan, Wyo., Bev (Brad) Tesch of McGregor, Sherrie (Randy) Vikla of McGregor; nine grandchildren: Json(Amber), Chad, Dawn, Jamie, Jessica, Hilary, Eric, Emily; four great-grandchildren, Teerza, Jazmyn, Izayah, Kynzee; two brothers and sisters-in-law: Richard (Marilyn) Turnock of McGregor, Darrell (Susan) Turnock of North Oaks; two sisters and brother-in-law, Kathy (Bob) Reich of Palisade, Cheryl Swanson (Steve) of Shoreview; many other relatives and friends.

A gathering time for family and friends will be 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 28, 2012, at Sorensen-Root-Thompson Funeral Home in Aitkin. Burial will be in Union Woodland Cemetery in McGregor.
