Ann Bangsund Grussing died of multiple myeloma on Dec. 15, 2012. She is survived by her husband, Paul Grussing; son, Jon Grussing (Kate); and daughter, Jane Lonnquist (John); six beloved grandchildren; and siblings, Donald Bangsund, John Bangsund, Karen Meslow and Galen Bangsund. She will be sorely missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her. Ann was a proud member of the Montevideo High School class of 1954 and the Macalester College class of 1958. She taught in public and private schools in Roseville and Downers Grove, Ill., and then worked on literacy initiatives at the University of Chicago. She and Paul enjoyed an active retirement in the Brainerd area. A Service of Thanksgiving for Ann’s life will be held on Saturday, Jan. 5 at 11 a.m. at First Congregational United Church of Christ, 415 Juniper Street, Brainerd. Memorial gifts are suggested to Camp Odayin (www.campodayin.com), the Crossing Arts Alliance (www.crossingarts.org) or to the Prader Willi Syndrome Association (www.pwsausa.org) with gifts specifically designated for “international support” in honor of granddaughter, Alexandra.
