Hazel S. Padgette
Hazel Suzanne Padgette was born Nov. 14, 1918, to Fred and Emma (Molendorf) Barnett and was called home by our Lord on Dec. 24, 2012.
She graduated from Lake Crystal High School. In 1941 she moved to Brainerd and married Rueben Padgette. Together they had five children.
Although her given name was Hazel, she was known as “Sue” from the time she moved here until she entered assisted living in 2010.
Sue worked as a bookkeeper and secretary for Burt Electric for over 30 years and also worked as a waitress at Edgewater Inn, Harold’s Club, Chaz’s, Papa C’s and Club La Guyal. Her creative and artistic interests were many. She was a talented quilt maker and seamstress and did beautiful needlepoint, embroidery and crochet. She painted ceramics and exhibited her floral arrangements at many area garden club shows.
Above all, Sue was an avid fan of the Minnesota Twins. She was able to make several trips to spring training in Fort Myers and had the opportunity to see two games at the new Target Field.
In her spare time, Sue loved gardening, especially growing roses, watching and feeding birds and reading.
