In honor of the heroic efforts of Jim Proell in saving the life of a battered woman, the Women’s Center of Mid-Minnesota will give him a plaque. A woman, wounded when shot by her husband, came to Proell’s house and he gave her shelter, despite being shot at himself.

30 years ago (1982)

(Photo) During Thursday’s Early Bird track meet at Don Adamson Field, Jim Kramer sails through the air in the long jump, winning the event at 21 feet. Kramer also went 41-3.5 to win the triple jump. Holly Brodmarkle won the girls’ high jump at 4-10.

(Adv.) Roger Miller and Realty Sales congratulate Don and Mary Jane Little, new owners of Minnewawa Lodge on Clark Lake in Nisswa. The resort has been operated by Fred and Joy Ann Pothoff for more than 40 years, before selling to the Littles.

Tuesday evening Max Toltz, head of the Toltz Engineering Co., and supplier of electric light and power to the city, was hauled over the coals at the council meeting and toasted, roasted and grilled. The council and water and light board are very dissatisfied with the service.
