30 years ago (1982)

The Brainerd Warriors locked up second place in the Central Lakes Conference baseball standings with a 10-1 victory at Elk River. Brainerd, 11-5 overall, will finish the season at Park Rapids with Dave Ace on the mound.

40 years ago (1972)

The question of whether a campground under the power lines near Highway 371 would be open for Donnybrooke race visitors this weekend hung in the balance today. Three stipulations dealing with wells, fencing and setback have yet to be resolved.

60 years ago (1952)

The Pequot Lakes county fair association voted this morning to discontinue the fair held annually at Pequot Lakes, according to Oscar Gravdahl, secretary. He said disposal of the property and buildings will leave the county with one annual fair in Brainerd.

80 years ago (1932)

Some 116 students, probably the largest class ever to graduate from Brainerd high school, will receive diplomas on June 1st. Among this number are 42 who will graduate from the commercial department, and 16 who will be eligible to teach as graduates of the normal school.

100 years ago (1912)

Sam Vincent English and Edgerton Horatio Brooks left this afternoon with their canoe and will paddle from Hubert to Brainerd. It is a distance of 165 miles (sic), figured according to the bends in the rivers and lakes they will traverse.
