Crow Wing County Deputy James Peterson found more than he was looking for when he searched for a fawn near a car-deer accident on Hwy 371. He found a North Dakota prison escapee. The man was lying in the woods and tried to run away. Peterson tackled him.

Crow Wing County employees may have shorter work weeks and the courthouse might be closed an extra day per week if commissioners adopt certain money-saving proposals being considered. Board chair Al Hauge said they will cut salary expense by 10 percent.
