As we consider the present Republican candidate, in fairness and accountability, let us remember.
George W. Bush entered office facing a surplus and left behind a huge debt. His war is estimated to cost around $1,500,000,000,000 – all borrowed and blessed by all Republicans.
During the Bush years millions of jobs were lost. Romney and Bain were ending jobs here and moving their bank accounts off shore.
Republicans were content to leave tens of millions of Americans without health insurance. Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rove and Fox news pushed for a military invasion of Iraq.
They promised that the war would be quick, clean and cheap. Remember the “evidence”: “yellow cake”, aluminum tubes” and shadowy “photographs”. They rejected all U.N. inspector evidence to the contrary and mocked any who would disagree with them. Some results of Bush’s war beyond the dollars: over 5,000 Americans dead, families devastated, thousands of divorces and brain injuries, tens of thousands with PTSD ( Post Traumatic Stress Disorder) and an epidemic of soldier suicides. The above are simple facts, not opinions.
As many of Romney’s advisors are Republican Bush folk the game plan remains the same: may the rich get richer faster. Decry big government while insisting on laws that rule over the most personal and private aspects of our lives. Speak of “unity” while spewing a constant stream of toxic rhetoric rhetoric against the president.
