Magnuson for Brainerd

In case we haven’t met, my name is John Magnuson, and I am running for Brainerd City Council Ward 3 (Northeast Brainerd and some surrounding neighborhoods). I would like to earn your vote!

As I knock on the doors in my community, I frequently hear complaints about our city council’s inability to get along, and the resulting gridlock that prevents progress. I’d like to be a part of changing that dynamic.

I have lived in Brainerd for more than 20 years, and my wife, Deb and I raised seven children. I just retired last year, and before that carried my lunch pail to work for over 30 years! I am a former business owner, and have spent the bulk of my career working on labor and employment issues. I am principled, but I am also a respectful team player. That combination can be hard to find, and is definitely needed on our city council!

We can work together to: Bring living wage jobs to Brainerd; work with the state to protect or increase the Local Government Aid (LGA) that communities like ours rely on to stay competitive and reduce our property taxes while providing the services that we need; retain fiscal responsibility; promote and invest in Brainerd’s many assets — historic downtown, the Mississippi River, Central Lakes College, parks and trails, and many others.

Please vote for John Magnuson, your common sense candidate. After all, we are all in this together!

Thank you for your support.

John Magnuson
