Brainerd’s Turena Johnson made her 4th trip to the winner’s circle in the Section 8AA cross country meet at Ponderosa Golf Course in Glyndon. This time she had company as the Warrior girls won their first section team title, easily outpointing 2nd place Rocori.

Basketball fans from C-I, Sauk Centre and Brainerd basked in memories of the successful coaching career of Bill Selisker in a dinner at Headquarters Lodge. Selisker starred at Brainerd, Hamline and St. Cloud State before coaching at Sauk Centre and C-I.

John Chalberg, dean of the Brainerd Junior College, announced today that a pre-election poll taken this morning showed a photo finish for president. Eisenhower got 34 votes and Adlai Stevenson 33. “As usual, some students didn’t vote,” Chalberg said.

Authorities in towns between here and Minneapolis were on the lookout for Odell Kingsburg, a negro, who is wanted for breaking into the bowling alley and robbing several slot machines of $75. He was seen boarding a bus to Minneapolis.

In a recent hunting trip at Farm Island Lake, Julius Hage and Carl Carlsen tried their new pump guns. A number of ducks quacked overhead while Hage and Carlsen pumped away, but the guns only pumped holes in the air and the ducks escaped without fatalities.
