Sen. McConnell declares GOP has voter mandate not to raise taxes
Last Tuesday night was anything but a mandate for the Republican Party’s agenda. Yet Sen. Mitch McConnell, minority Senate leader, made the inexplicable comment that has befuddled even the closest political observer: “I am not willing to raise taxes to turn off the sequester. Period,” McConnell reportedly told the Wall Street Journal. “We won’t agree to any tax increases that will hurt the economy.”
