Why are comments not allowed on the many articles about the Little Falls shootings?

Is the Brainerd Dispatch stifling commentary because the “other” side of the story may not be politically correct?

Editor’s note: There are no comments on criminal events because it is Dispatch policy to require a person commenting to sign their name to their comments. There is no accommodation for that at present.

However, we do allow comments in our reader opinion section of the Dispatch, which requires the writer’s name, address and phone number which allows us to verify authenticity.
