Wake up residents!
I am sorry to inform the residents in our
resignation — decided to ignore the overwhelming no vote that was taken
on June 9, 2012, to repair 12 miles of road on 10 roads for a total of
$3.5 million dollar tax levy. We have 32 and a half miles of township
roads. Our tax levy for 2012 and 2013 is $230,000 for each year which
was set high to keep our roads in shape. Another special meeting was
set for Aug. 30, 2012. About 80 residents came to be informed that the
roadwork plans were proceeding as planned which was voted on by the
“three board members.” To say the least, our residents were fuming at
this meeting. Oct. 15, 2012, another meeting was called to order with
52 residents present. This was about an $850,000 tax levy to do one
mile of road work on three separate roads. I asked for a vote from the
residents. Marge Cotton informed me the “three board members” voted for
us. We, Marge Cotton says, gave the board members the authority to make
the final decisions for the residents.
People — there are seven
more roads on “their to-do list” at a remaining cost of about
$2,600,000 more of a tax levy to us. On Feb. 4, at 7 p.m. they will do
the final paper work on this $850,000 tax levy. Vote Marge Cotton and
Jeff Hartman out of office on March 12 because of the remaining road
work plans for yet another tax levy hike. Dan Wells’ term will expire
next year and he voted for the tax levy also. Vote in people that will
listen to the residents they represent.
Vote for Rick Hennes and Dan Block.
