Kevin Thesing awarded for philanthropy
If philanthropy is all about giving — to good causes and to one’s community — then Kevin Thesing is more than deserving of the Brainerd Lakes Area Community Foundation’s 2012 Award in Philanthropy.
The co-owner of Lakes Area Printing has been involved in a host of community projects and has always managed to keep a smile on his face no matter road blocks might be encountered along the way.
Friends of his marvel at his ability to persistently work toward a goal in an easy, non-confrontational manner. It’s not unusual to see that printing products which are used at a nonprofit event were supplied courtesy of Thesing’s business, but he’s also never been afraid to contribute his own “sweat equity” in a project.
The foundation’s board presents the philanthropy award each year to recognize the efforts of an individual, couple or family that has significantly contributed to philanthropy in the region through their personal giving, volunteerism or work as a professioanl advising their clients about philanthropy.
The foundation is a public charity that has awarded more than $2 million in grants to local nonprofits.
