Open forum: Please stay involved in schools

Thank you to all school district voters who participated in the school innovation and renovation vote last week. A total 352 more voters went to the polls on a frigid Tuesday in February than voted on the referendum last June. That is something everyone in our community can be proud of!

As the school district moves forward with this important project, we ask everyone to stay involved as we work together to improve and expand our community schools for generations to come.

As a Board, we are committed to educational excellence and fiscally responsible oversight as we move forward with this important project.  Consistent with state bidding laws and procedures, we will utilize local contractors, vendors and workers as much as possible to perform the necessary work for our schools.  We will utilize an owners' representative who will coordinate the project to maximize value,  and work proactively to make sure local firms have access to information necessary to submit bids on the various components of the project. Please contact the District Office for any questions in this regard.

In addition, we will post regular progress reports on the school website, and Superintendent Linnell will continue his morning informational meetings at local restaurants to discuss the progress and answer any questions community members may have.

We look forward to working together to build on the extraordinary support our community has expressed for educational excellence in Pequot Lakes Schools.  Again, thank you for your support and commitment to our school.
