Open Forum: Another treasure — right here

Thirty years ago I hiked through the Cuyuna mine area with my dog. I don't think anyone had heard of a mountain bike back then. Twenty years ago I bought a basic mountain bike and explored the mines. Tonight I enjoyed the new trails at the Cuyuna Recreation area on my full suspension mountain bike.  What fun! The trails are fantastic! They are well marked and there are maps just where you need them. This is nothing like riding a bike on a road or paved trail. This is as challenging as you like, but even the easy trail will keep you focused. Be sure to wear a helmet. I encourage everyone to try it out. If you don't have a mountain bike you can rent one. I understand these trails will be great for snowshoeing too.

People are going to come from hundreds of miles to ride the trails. It would not be an exaggeration to call the Cuyuna Recreation Area a treasure.  Another treasure — right here. Thank you to all the people who worked to make this a reality.
