If the name fits ...

So I was reading Thursday’s Dispatch and saw the “Occupy Brainerd” is disassociating itself with the label because there is too much negativity associated with the national movement. I think Terry Sluss, (former Crow Wing commissioner, DFL Senate candidate) picked the name to fit in with his crowd.

Like my mother used to say, “If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, has feathers like a duck, lays eggs like a duck — don’t tell me it is a chicken.” Keep the name duckie, it fits.

And to the Feb. 24 Open Forum writer of “Pro-choice and Christian,” speaking of moms, my father and mother also had to make the same decision — they delivered the baby. My brother too was born and lived for a couple days — key is he lived and his name is John. When he was born he still had all his parts still attached and had a chance at survival. Don’t know how dad would have taken care of nine children, Mom mourned a lifetime over John and had 4 more children.

She has been with John for over a year now, getting to know the son that slipped away. We all remember there are 14 of us, not 13.
