A thank you from American Legion

On behalf of Post and Unit 255 of the Brainerd American Legion, I want to thank you (the Dispatch) for publishing our events in “What’s Doing” every week.

The Brainerd American Legion is committed to service to our veterans. With your help, the events we host at Post 255 generate revenues that can be used to support these veterans and their families. Our post provides military funeral honors for the families of deceased veterans, support for the families of deployed veterans, and assistance to various community needs.

Our auxiliary also promotes these efforts along with Americanism and patriotism. This year, Unit 255 will send two Brainerd High School girls (and two alternates) to Girls State where they will have the opportunity to see our government in action, to meet other girls from units around the state and to actually form a mock government of their own.

In May, the auxiliary will offer poppies, handmade by hospitalized veterans, for donations from the public. All of these donations will be used to support veterans.

You help all of these efforts by providing a free forum for us to publicize them! We are so grateful!

I've worked at the Brainerd Dispatch with various duties since Dec. 7, 1983. Starting off as an Ad Designer and currently Director of Audience Development. The Dispatch has been an interesting and challenging place to work. I'm fortunate to have made many friends, both co-workers and customers.
