Press coverage can be misleading

Luckily, the Brainerd Dispatch sent a reporter to cover the April 10th Emily City Council meeting and gave comprehensive coverage (see April 11, 2012 edition online). The Crosby Courier also wrote a concise, factual article (April 18, 2012).

People in Emily and beyond understand the residency attack on an Emily City Council member was motivated by the proposed manganese mining project here. A group is worried it won’t happen if questions are raised.

Be assured, I and other Emily City Council members are looking-out for residents and businesses on every issue and from all sides. I want to help create safe, productive, local jobs in Emily. If manganese can be mined in town without harming people or property, it will present a great opportunity. When and if a proposal for a commercial mining operation is brought to us, it will be reviewed objectively by the entire Emily City Council, as well as by multiple agencies.
