Group home debate

Group home

After reading about the uproar about the possible placement of a group home in Nokay Lake Township I didn’t know whether to laugh or to cry.

The people in group homes are vulnerable adults who are either brain injured, born with a birth defect, etc. They are not predators. They are supervised 24/7.

There are many group homes in the Twin Cities that are right in residential areas. You could drive down any street and not know they are there. They are peaceful and quiet.

After living next to alcoholic binge drinkers for way too many years in a suburb of St. Paul I will take a group home on both sides of me and one directly across the street and know that I won’t be awakened by them at 3 a.m.

Ask someone in law enforcement who is the bigger problem, us “normal” people or the residents of a group home.
