To the City Council, Mayor Wallin, County Commissioners, Superintendent of Schools Mr. Razidlo and the members of the Brainerd School Board,

I would urge you all to attend at least one of the seven concerts in Tornstrom Auditorium being presented by the Lakes Area Music Festival. (www.lakesareamusic.org for details)

You will see the efforts of over 200 volunteers from all over the area that are providing time, housing, transportation, meals, and donations to support this undertaking.

You will see sponsorships and advertising from individuals and businesses who

help cover the needs of the festival with their donations and use of their facilities, as well as involving their own work staffs in advancing this project.

You will see former Brainerd students perform on our own stage, who have now become fine musicians as they return to share their talents and skills with us. In the first concert of the series this past Sunday, you would have also noticed that five of our own music teachers in the Brainerd school district performing alongside these former students.

The Lakes Area Music Festival is more than musicians getting together. It is also the orchestrated effort of a large number of our own in the community to bring a quality product to the area. Seeing this firsthand will make you proud of what our community has done. Your presence there would mean a great deal to those performers and those volunteers.

I've worked at the Brainerd Dispatch with various duties since Dec. 7, 1983. Starting off as an Ad Designer and currently Director of Audience Development. The Dispatch has been an interesting and challenging place to work. I'm fortunate to have made many friends, both co-workers and customers.
