Texting While Driving

A friend stopped over last weekend. He is an over-the-road truck driver. We were discussing everything he sees while driving. A big thing he sees is people driving with their knees while texting. This is very frightening. These people do not have control of their cars. Anyone who texts while driving has a slower reaction time because they are distracted and not fully aware of what is going on around them. I don’t think this is what smart phones were invented for. With one-third of teens texting while driving, can’t we at least include texting while driving in driver’s education so they know how to do it safely. Maybe even show them how to drive with their toes or ears. Maybe it might help them to focus on their driving. Phone calls can wait. I don’t want to become a statistic of someone driving with their knees.
