President Obama has been in office nearly four years, giving him plenty of time to implement his hope and change promises.

The facts speak louder than words regarding the middle class. And the facts show that President Obama has done more harm to middle class families than any president in the history of the U.S.


Fact one, when President Obama took office gasoline prices stood at $1.85 per gallon. Now gasoline prices have sky-rocketed to nearly $4 per gallon, putting a squeeze on middle-income wallets. Instead of helping the situation, the president vetoed building the Keystone pipeline that would have created thousands of jobs and increased our oil supplies.

Fact two, when taking office, the federal deficit stood at $10.6 trillion but has soared to over $16 trillion now — adding more debt to our deficit than any other president in history.

Fact three, since taking office, median household income has dropped from $55,000 per year to $51,000 per year and our workforce has declined from 133.6 million to 133.2 million people.

Fact four, the unemployment rate is high and remains high, going from 7.8 percent when taking office to 8.1 percent now.

Fact five, people on food stamps have risen from 32 million to a whopping 46.7 million during the president’s reign.

Fact six, the percentage of people below the poverty level has risen from 14.3 percent in 2009 to a historical high of over 15 percent in 2011. Plus, a record breaking 49 percent of Americans now receives some form of government subsidy.

This is not the hope and change middle class households were looking for. Don’t believe the campaign rhetoric. It is time to put an end to unfulfilled promises, failed policies and the worst economic woes since the Great Depression. The choice is clear, Mitt Romney.
