I voted today, thankfully we are still allowed to do this, as I will be out of the country before the end of the month. While voting, two things came to mind.
1. I recently made a contribution to an organization which thanked me by giving me a note pad with quotes from famous Americans. As if an omen, there on the first page was a quote from President Lincoln. “Those who deny freedom to others deserve it not for themselves”
2. As an election judge for more than 20 years, I know the training clerks and judges go through to ensure that only residents who fulfill residence requirements are allowed to vote.
I voted “NO” on both amendments as both are unnecessary and restrictive and I hope most others will do likewise.
I reside in Ideal Township, where almost 90 percent of the residents vote. I reside in Crow Wing County where nearly 80 percent of the residents vote. I reside in Minnesota where almost 65 percent of the residents vote. We should be proud!
