Australian gun laws
The figures from “down under “(Australia)
now been 12 months since gun owners in Australia were forced by a new
law to surrender 640,381 personal firearms to be destroyed by the
government; a program that cost Australian taxpayers more than $500
After the first year, Australia-wide: Homicides are up
6.2 percent, assaults are up 9.6 percent, and armed robberies are up 44
percent — yes,44 percent!
There has also been a dramatic increase in break-ins and assaults of the elderly while they are in their own homes.
Inthe state of Victoria alone, homicides with firearms are up 300percent! While law-abiding citizens turned in their guns, criminals didnot, and thus they are still in possession of them. The criminals arenearly guaranteed that their “prey” is unarmed!
Australianpoliticians are “at a loss” to explain how public safety has suffered, after such monumental effort and expense was expended in “successfullyridding the Australian society of guns!”
To that question, Ican only mutter ”DUH!” The Australian experience speaks for itself:Guns in the hands of honest citizens save lives and property andgun-control laws really affect only the law-abiding citizens.
