Advertising in the Dispatch

If a lie is “the intent to deceive”, the Brainerd Dispatch has joined the “liars club” big time. The Dispatch accepts advertising that has big bold headlines that look like a part of the news, and then there is a tiny disclaimer at the top that says it is advertising. The clear intent is to deceive a reader into thinking it is an ordinary part of the news.

Some of this deceptive advertising has occurred in the last few days. When it does, it makes me wary of the rest of the news, and I make a mental note not to buy from the company that is putting out the deceptive advertising.

I've worked at the Brainerd Dispatch with various duties since Dec. 7, 1983. Starting off as an Ad Designer and currently Director of Audience Development. The Dispatch has been an interesting and challenging place to work. I'm fortunate to have made many friends, both co-workers and customers.
