An encounter with ‘Minnesota Nice’
We’ve all heard of the term “Minnesota nice.” It’s a phrase that anyone living in Minnesota takes tremendous pride in! I’ve been incredibly blessed to see and feel it!
My debit card information was compromised by Target and I received a letter from my bank stating they would be issuing me a new debit card. I received the new debit card and activated it.
I went to Costco to pick up a couple of grocery items. The cashier rang up my items and I swiped my card and the card was “unable to process” I apologized to the cashier and the guy standing behind me and explained what was going on. I asked them to hold on and I would go over to the ATM and see if it would work there. No such luck.
As I was went back the cashier handed me my membership card and receipt. I looked at her very confused and asked, “How does that work, my card won’t go through?” She smiled and said, “Sometimes angels appear in our lives out of nowhere” and she nodded to the gentleman that was in line behind me.
I said to the man, “Thank you so much. That was very generous of you and you really didn’t have to do that.” To which he smiled and replied, “No problem. I just hope your day goes better!”
With tears in my eyes, I gave him a hug, said thank you again, and we went our separate ways.
To the gentleman who helped me at Costco: I hope you get the chance to read this and know how very thankful I am! Please let your parents know that they did a wonderful job in raising you. The compassion you have shown to a complete stranger is truly amazing!
