Nolan's offer to students

Eighth District Congressman Rick Nolan has more time for constituents than other House members by refusing to waste working hours chasing dollars on the telephone. The extra time allows Rick to promote an opportunity high school students have at some of our finest learning institutions.

Many prominent Americans are graduates of military academies. Army’s West Point and Navy’s Annapolis have a rich history of producing leaders in military, government, industry, and education. In addition the Air Force, Merchant Marine and Coast Guard academies have followed in their tradition. Rick is convinced that a diploma from a military academy is a win/win situation. The education is at no cost to the student and it is crowned with service to our nation. Both the student and America win.

Following the required service after they graduate, many become civilians. As such, graduates of these programs are among the most sought after by employers in the civilian economy.

Everyone reading this should think of informing high school students they know, male or female. Just imagine. First class college educations fully funded by taxpayers and applying can start simply by visiting an Internet website. Act today. Forward the website to family and friends. Then applicants can select college bound and military academy nominations to reveal process options.

We can be proud that Congressman Nolan has significantly strengthened this facet of his office compared to his predecessors. Applicants have nothing to lose, and if they complete the military application process, they have a good chance of receiving a scholarship. In addition other available programs include the GI Bill and Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) and even summer intern opportunities.

Do your part and help Rick make this a big success. It could be a dream come true for a deserving student you know.
