Brainerd will miss Lambert's dedicated service

Few law officers personified the concept of community policing as well as Brainerd Police Officer Mike Lambert, who died unexpectedly last weekend as the result of complications from heart surgery.

The idea that police officers are a part of the community they serve and not merely law enforcers encourages law enforcement personnel to take a proactive role and attack some of the root problems that contribute to spikes in crime. Whether consciously or not, Lambert embraced that role.
