A sad time

Bonnie Cumberland, a woman who has influenced many of us whom attended Brainerd High School over the years, has left us. Though I never had her as a teacher, we still spent an accumulation of hours talking during my school years, and as political adversaries later in life. You might say, she improved my debate skills.

A kinder person would be hard to find than our Bonnie was. She was always true to her beliefs, and that is something I respect. She was very dedicated in her teaching life as well as in her service to the people. She truly put her all into what she did and enjoyed doing it. Her soft demeanor and smile are something I will miss. I morn your loss Bonnie, you left us way too young.

Bonnie’s last endeavor was that of council president for Brainerd. It is a sad duty that the members of the council have, to fill her post. But it must be done. And the voters picked Bonnie, and someone with the same vision Bonnie had should be selected. Only one person comes to mind to see to the work that Bonnie is unable to finish, Mrs. Anne Nelson Fisher.
