Sheriff warns of cracks on Lake of the Woods

Email

BAUDETTE, Minn. (AP) — Ice anglers should avoid the west side of Lake of the Woods unless they're going out with a resort or an expert who knows the conditions, authorities warned Friday.

Conditions on the west side are treacherous because of cracks caused by recent warm temperatures and prevalent south winds on the popular big lake at the northernmost tip of Minnesota, the Grand Forks Herald reported (http://bit.ly/tSS2AC).
