CROSBY — Registration for the Cuyuna Lakes Whiteout, a March 2-3 winter bike riding and racing event, is available at

The Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Crew is hosting the event, a two-day celebration of the new natural surface winter fat bike trails in the Sagamore Unit of the Cuyuna Country State Recreation Area.

The Cuyuna Lakes Whiteout will feature the six-, 12- or 18-mile Sagamore SnowXross Country Race, the Cuyuna Lakes Serpent Lake Ice Bike 500 Race and the Cuyuna Lakes Fat Tire Drag Race Championship.

The event is open to the public and will kick off March 2 with a night ride for thrill-seeking riders or racers who want to familiarize themselves with the Sagamore trails. A pasta feed fundraiser for the Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Crew will follow the night ride.

On March 3 only, the Yawkey unit, normally designated for summer use, will be open for recreational winter riding. There also will be a sledding hill for children at Crosby Memorial Park, an Arctic Outdoor Market featuring local artisans and vendors, food, beverages and music, including the anthem, “Yawkey Mountain High,” by The Seth Doud Band. Profits from Whiteout will benefit the maintenance and continued expansion of the Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Trails.
