Festival lineup to include BMX stunt show, bike parade
CROSBY — A BMX stunt show and bike parade have been added to the Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Festival lineup.
This second annual event is June 9 in Crosby and Ironton. It will feature bike races for all ages and skill levels, a silent auction and live music. Performances by local and Minneapolis area musicians will be interspersed throughout the event, from 11 a.m. until 11 p.m. at Crosby Memorial Park.
Anyone who owns a bike is encouraged to join the Spirit of Cuyuna Bike Parade, even wear costumes, to show support for biking in the Cuyuna lakes area. The parade will roll through downtown Crosby starting at 10 a.m., with staging at 9:45 a.m. at Crosby Memorial Park.
“Whether you have a 10-speed or a three-wheeled bike, everyone should participate in the bike parade,” said Johnna Johnson, parade organizer and executive director of the Cuyuna Lakes Chamber of Commerce. “The crazier the costume, the better.”
Another highlight of this year’s festival will be BMX stunt shows performed at 1:30 and 5:15 p.m. by the Twin Cities Fantasy Factory, a professional BMX stunt group featuring world-class BMXers showing off their best jumps, flips and tricks.
The Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Festival is a fundraiser for the Cuyuna Lakes Chamber of Commerce, the Cuyuna Lakes Mountain Bike Crew and the Minnesota Off-Road Cyclists, a chapter of the International Mountain Bicycling Association.
